We slid into January at full speed!
We slid into January at full speed here at The Dancing Houseâcomplete with an ice storm that had us skating in the driveway before we ever made it to class. And yet, our community showed up anyway. With energy. With smiles. With a whole lot of joy. Thatâs the magic of TDH.
As we continue settling into our new location, winter weather has brought a few learning curves, and weâre so grateful for your patience as we navigate this season for the first time. Weâve added more space between classes to support smoother transitions (so far, so good!), and weâre staying on top of de-icing with salt, sand, and extra careâthank you for moving cautiously as you come and go.
One more friendly reminder: lost & found is already growing (itâs only week one!), so please take a peek each visitâthose cozy jackets add up fast.
And finally, if you have a friend whoâs been curious about dance, now is the perfect time. Our year-round program is currently closed to enrollment, but our six-week sessions are open and designed to be an easy, welcoming place to start. Sometimes the highlight of your week begins with just six weeks. đ
With so much appreciation,
đ The Dancing House
TDHPC and Competition Dancers Experience a Guest Teacher
As members of The Dancing House Performance Company and our competition program, our dancers receive more than just weekly technique classesâthey gain access to expanded training, guest artists, and educational experiences that support long-term growth. We believe well-rounded dancers are built through exposure, curiosity, and learning from a variety of teachers within the dance world.
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mead Sames, a dance education student at the University of WisconsinâMadison, who reached out with a desire to share her knowledge with our dancers. Mead led a mat Pilates class focused on strength, alignment, and body awarenessâand she was phenomenal. Her encouraging, empowering approach helped our dancers better understand how to care for their bodies while building the strength needed to support their technique. Opportunities like this are an important part of how we train strong, healthy, and informed dancers.
If your dancer is interested in taking their training to the next level, now is a great time to learn more about our Performance Company and Competition Program. These programs are designed for dancers who are ready for deeper education, mentorship, and growthâboth in and out of the studio. Read the blog to learn more about our approach to dance education and what makes our programs unique.
The Hummingbird Estates Welcomes a NEW Business!
Weâre so excited to officially welcome a new resident to Hummingbird Estatesâright here within The Dancing House wing. â¨
Please join us in welcoming Vine and Fig Scalp & Skin Spa, owned by the wonderful Michelle Larson. Vine and Fig is a boutique facial and scalp spa offering deeply restorative, results-driven services designed to help you slow down, breathe, and truly care for yourselfâinside and out.

Michelleâs approach is rooted in intention, education, and relaxation, specializing in customized facials and luxurious scalp treatments that nourish the skin, calm the nervous system, and support overall wellness. Her studio is located upstairs at The Dancing House and operates by appointment only, making it a peaceful retreat for our parents, teens, and especially our hardworking TDH staff.
We love surrounding our community with businesses that align with our values of care, excellence, and well-beingâand Vine and Fig is a perfect fit. Michelle will also be offering special perks just for our TDH community, and we cannot wait for you to experience her incredible work.
To learn more or book an appointment, visit her website and show her some loveâweâre so grateful to share this space with her.

TDHPC and Competition Dancers kick off their Season at INnovate!
Our company dancers will be attending the Innovate Dance Event this month! This exciting event is all about inspiring our dancers and taking them to the next level. Theyâll have the opportunity to perform, learn from educators, and connect with other dancers. Itâs an event designed to challenge and inspire, and we canât wait to see the incredible growth that will come out of it!

Feed My Starving Children a Favorite of TDH

Feed My Starving Children | Friday, February 6 | 5:00â6:30 PM | Eagan Location
At The Dancing House, giving back isnât something we do once in a whileâitâs woven into who we are. We believe deeply in teaching gratitude, empathy, and service, and one of our most meaningful traditions is volunteering together at Feed My Starving Children.
This experience is powerful for dancers and families alike. Side by side, we pack life-saving meals for children and families around the world, turning our time and energy into something that truly matters. Itâs hands-on, eye-opening, and incredibly heart-filling. For our students, itâs a beautiful reminder that the discipline and teamwork they practice in the studio can be used to make a real impact far beyond it.
We invite everyone to join usâstudents, siblings, parents, grandparents, and friends. The more hands we have, the more meals we pack, and the bigger the impact we make together. No dance experience requiredâjust a willing heart and a desire to serve. However, only kiddos 5 and older can be in the packing room.Â
And of course, donât forget to wear your TDH merch so we can show up as the strong, kind, and connected community we are. Moments like these are why we say dance is more than movementâitâs a way to build compassionate, life-ready humans.
We hope youâll join us for this special evening of service, connection, and giving back. đ
Happy Birthday to our January Stars!

Dance on Demand Turns 10 years old!

Have you heard of Dance on Demand?
Chances are⌠you have. And we still canât believe this eitherâweâre celebrating 10 YEARS of Dance on Demand! đ
What started back in 2016 as a simple Facebook group has grown into a full online platform that supports our students, our staff, and dancers all over the world. Dance on Demand was created to meet people exactly where they areâbecause life is busy, schedules donât always line up, and sometimes walking into a studio just doesnât feel right. And thatâs okay. We get it.
Whether youâre an adult who misses dancing, someone looking for extra practice, or a dancer who wants access to quality training from home, Dance on Demand is here for you. Learn in your living room, on your schedule, at your paceâwithout scrolling endlessly through YouTube hoping to find the ârightâ class.
Membership starts at $57 for your first month, which includes a FREE 30-minute private lesson (in person with Miss Melissa or online via Zoom). After that, itâs just $27/month. Your membership gives you unlimited access to ballet, tap, hip hop, yoga, and moreâall in one place.
Dance doesnât have to disappear from your life. Sometimes it just needs a new doorway.

Because dance should always be the highlight of your weekâeven from home. đ Â
Spring Camp Announced!

Weâre excited to pilot a brand-new camp experience designed to support dancers ages 6â10 in a more intentional, full-body way. This small-group camp blends outdoor movement, strength and flexibility training, dance, reflection, and connectionâall in a way that feels fun, age-appropriate, and very âTDH.â
The day begins with outdoor movement (a hike or sledding, weather permitting), followed by stretching, strength, tumbling, and healthy movement habits that support strong dancers for life. Weâll provide lunch, which the dancers will assemble themselves, and guide them through a short journaling activity focused on confidence, goals, and finishing the season feeling proud. Weâll end the day with danceâprogressions, movement, and joy.
This is a limited pilot camp, intentionally capped to keep the experience meaningful.
Ages 6â10 | 9:00 AMâ1:00 PM | $99 (lunch included)
If youâre looking for something a little differentâsomething that nurtures body, confidence, and connectionâthis is it.
Spots are limited, and we expect this to fill quickly. CLICK HERE to save your spot!

I am so glad that we found The Dancing House! The flexibility of the 6 week sessions has been a great fit for our family. My daughter loves Miss Melissa and I love how she teaches! The recital program is put on very well and the kids have a great time. We also enjoy signing up for the mini camps that are offered throughout the year.
