Happy October, Dancing House Families! 🍂
Was this weekend glorious or what?! Bright blue skies, crisp air, and the colors are finally starting to turn. This is hands-down one of my favorite times of year, not only because it’s beautiful, but because there’s something wonderful about the rhythm of this season.
We’re settled in. The newness of the school year has worn off, schedules are starting to feel predictable, and everyone is finding their groove.
And… this is also about the time when staying home in our cozy clothes starts sounding really good. 😂 The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting cooler, and sometimes getting everyone out the door for one more activity feels like a lot.
So here's your reminder of why we dance.
And one of the BEST ways I know to reignite that excitement, for your dancer AND for you, is to go support the arts.
Go see a show. Live theater. Music. Dance. It doesn't matter what it is. There is something incredibly energizing about sitting in an audience and watching people create something beautiful right in front of you.
I recently sawPaul Taylor Dance Company at Northrop Auditorium, and I left completely invigorated. I came back to my own classes with new ideas, new concepts, and honestly, a renewed joy for teaching.
Your dancer can experience that same spark.
It doesn't have to be a huge production. Go see something at The Phipps. Catch a show in Woodbury. Head into St. Paul to the Ordway or make a night of it at the Orpheum.
Let your kids see where all those classes can lead.
Sometimes seeing someone else perform is exactly what reminds us why we fell in love with doing it ourselves.
And speaking of performing… recital season is coming!
Costumes will be ordered soon, which always makes everything suddenly feel REAL!
Our winter recital is December 12th, and this year we’ll be performing at our NEW location, Meyer Middle School in River Falls.
We are so excited about this venue. It’s a beautiful theater and truly feels like another step forward for The Dancing House and for our dancers. We cannot wait to see them take that stage.
And because you are already part of our TDH community, you get to hear things first.
We’re always listening to what our families need, and you’ll notice some new classes and opportunities popping up based directly on your feedback. From new classes to special events and retreats, there are some really fun things coming.
Thank you for taking the time to read these updates and stay connected. We know family life is FULL, and we never take for granted that you choose to spend part of it with us.
And Can we talk about the parking?! 🙌 You guys are NAILING IT.
But even better than the parking? I hear you introducing yourselves to each other in the lobby. I see parents talking. I see dancers connecting. I see people making room for one another.
And nothing warms my heart more.
Because these kids are going to grow up together.
This isn't just a place they come for an hour of dance each week. We are building a community where people feel seen, welcomed, supported, and like they belong.
Thank you for helping us create that.
Here’s to a beautiful October and another month of dancing, growing, and shining together. 💗
Ms. Melissa
Introducing the very FIRST TDH Mini Troupe!

Big dreams can start small. 💜
We are SO excited to introduce Clara, Rosie, Brynn & Everly, our inaugural TDH Mini Troupe!
This brand-new program gives some of our younger dancers the opportunity to experience what it means to be part of a team: learning choreography, working together, building confidence, performing, and discovering the joy that comes from being part of something special.
Led by Miss Sophi, these four dancers will rehearse together throughout the season, cheer each other on, make lots of memories, and represent The Dancing House out in our community.
And while we know there will be plenty of dancing, our biggest hope is that they learn what it means to be great teammates, kind humans, confident performers, and really good friends.
We can't wait to watch them grow this season.
Please help us give a BIG TDH welcome to our very first Mini Troupe!
✨ Meet the 2026–27 TDH Performance Company! ✨

Please help us celebrate Fiona Montgomery (Dance Captain), Lucy Busse, Millie Beissler & Ella Mann!
The Dancing House Performance Company was established in 2022 with a simple mission: to give our young, gifted and dedicated dancers the opportunity to take their dance education deeper.
This is not a competition team, and that's intentional.
Instead, Performance Company is about more. More choreography. More opportunities to perform. More exposure to guest instructors. More opportunities to be challenged, explore different styles, and grow as artists and dancers.
These dancers are asked to show up, work hard, support one another, stay coachable and represent TDH with kindness and professionalism wherever they go.
Because while strong dancers matter to us, raising kind, confident, life-ready humans will always matter more.
We are so excited to see where this season takes these four. Please help us welcome and celebrate our TDH Performance Company! 🩰✨💜
Strong Technique. Kind Hearts. Big Dreams.
✨ Meet the 2026–27 TDH Competition Team! ✨

Please help us celebrate Luna Pidgeon, Lillian Wynveen & Millie Beissler! 💜
Being part of our Competition Team means saying yes to more.
More training. More corrections. More choreography. More accountability. More opportunities to stretch outside your comfort zone—and a whole lot of cheering for the dancers beside you.
These ladies take at least two technique classes each week and will kick off their competition season at INnovate Dance Event, where they’ll receive personalized adjudication and feedback before heading into three competitions throughout the season.
Yes, they’ll compete.
Yes, they’ll work hard.
And yes, we’ll celebrate the scores, awards and exciting moments along the way.
But at TDH, the trophy has never been the point.
The real win is becoming a stronger dancer, a gracious teammate, a coachable student and a confident human who knows how to work toward something she wants.
We can’t wait to watch Luna, Lillian & Millie learn, grow, perform and cheer each other on this season.
Let’s hear it for our TDH Competition Team! 👏🩰✨💜
Strong Technique. Kind Hearts. Big Dreams.

Check out Who's having a Birthday in October!
We hope your birthday month is filled with laughter, love, lots of dancing, and moments that make you smile.
As one of our favorite birthday traditions, each of our birthday dancers receives a FREE scoop of ice cream from our friends at Lotus Creamery in Downtown Hudson! 🍦
We're so grateful for local businesses like Lotus Creamery who help us celebrate our students and make our community a little sweeter.
Our Next 6-Week Session is coming….with a BRAND NEW 3-4yr class!

For our second 6-week session of the season, we are bringing you a 30-minute ballet class for some of our youngest students.
A magical first ballet class for our littlest dancers! Dancers will twirl, tiptoe, and learn the foundations of ballet while developing musicality, coordination, basic ballet positions and terminology, and, most importantly, learning how to take a dance class with confidence.
Dancers may wear a leotard of their choice, tights, and pink ballet shoes so they can feel like the little ballerina they dream of being. Pink ballet shoes are available to borrow, or we highly recommend supporting local and purchasing your own at Prima Boutique.
$99 for six classes.
Registration for currently enrolled families will be open on Oct. 5th. Registration for the public will open on Oct. 12th!

Is Your Dancer Wanting More?
Consider private lessons. They are a great way to double down on the work they learn in class and go further faster. Work on technique, focus on turns or leaps or clean that solo for competition! You'll leave the studio stronger and even more confident!
And private lessons are available at any age!
Why We Partner With Local Businesses

There is a student at The Dancing House who absolutely loves ballet.
She shows up eager to learn, works hard in class, and has the kind of determination that teachers notice right away. Like many families, however, life isn't always simple. Circumstances outside of dance sometimes make consistent participation challenging.
Because of our scholarship fund and community partners, we've been able to ensure that this student continues dancing, even during seasons when it may not have been financially possible. We've been able to hold her place in class, provide tuition assistance, and most importantly, keep her connected to a community where she belongs.
And she's not the only one.
Every year, we meet students with incredible potential and a genuine desire to dance, but summer classes, additional training opportunities, or even regular tuition may not fit within the family budget. Through the generosity of our sponsors, we're able to offer scholarships, provide extra classes to dedicated students who are eager to grow, and make sure dance remains accessible to children who need it most.
At The Dancing House, we believe dance is for everybody.
When local businesses partner with us, they're doing more than supporting a dance studio. They're investing in confidence, belonging, discipline, creativity, and opportunities for young people in our community. They're helping students stay connected to something they love.
In return, we work hard to support and promote the businesses that support us. We view our sponsors as true partners and are committed to helping them gain meaningful visibility within our community of families.
If you'd like to help make dance accessible to more students while growing awareness for your business, we'd love to partner with you.
